Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Gayrat Fozilov met with the EU Special Representative for Central Asia Terhi Hakala.

 

 

 

The parties reviewed the current state and prospects for the development of interaction between Uzbekistan and the EU in the political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

 

 

 

 

 

The sides also discussed the organizational aspects of upcoming events in the “Uzbekistan – EU” and “Central Asia – EU” formats.

 

 

 

 

They noted the need for an early signing of the Agreement on Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the European Union.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with Ebrahim Raisi, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran on the sidelines of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly.

The Head of State stressed that Kazakhstan attaches great importance to strengthening bilateral relations with Iran as a strategic partner in the Caspian Sea region.

 

 

 

During the talks, the leaders of the two states discussed the current state and prospects for further development of Kazakh-Iranian cooperation. The sides noted the importance of adopting a set of measures to increase cooperation in the spheres of transport, logistics and trade.

– We have reached very useful agreements on the visa procedure, as well as on other areas related to the interaction between business and citizens. I would like to say that Kazakhstan is absolutely committed to strengthening relations with Iran. Both Governments should take appropriate measures to implement our agreements previously reached in Tehran. I look forward to seeing you again in Kazakhstan, – said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

The Head of State noted the positive interaction between the two countries within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation and other international structures.

 

 

 

In turn, President of Iran Ebrahim Raisi said that Kazakhstan and Iran have exemplary relations based on strong ties of friendship and mutual support.

– Iran and Kazakhstan enjoy excellent bilateral relations, having this level of partnership makes us take further steps to develop our relations, especially in the field of trade. We are serious about expanding relations with brotherly Kazakhstan. Our countries have great potential and utilising these opportunities will serve us well, – Ebrahim Raisi said.

 

 

 

The leaders emphasized the great potential in strengthening transit and transport links. In particular, they noted the great potential of using the railway Kazakhstan – Turkmenistan – Iran as a key route for the development of mutual trade and transport across the Caspian Sea. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted the importance of the construction of a Kazakh trade terminal in the port of Bandar Abbas.

The leaders agreed to increase communication between their governments to accomplish their economic goals.

On August 10, 2023, Deputy Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Gayrat Fozilov met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania Daniel Cristian Ciobanu.

 

 

 

 

 

During the conversation, the parties discussed the current state of Uzbekistan-Romanian relations and priority areas of their further development. They paid particular attention to building up direct ties between business communities.

 

 

 

 

They also considered the schedule and organizational aspects of upcoming joint events in bilateral and multilateral formats, as well as the issues of interaction between the two countries within the framework of international organizations.

On July 11, 2023, the Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan Zarobiddin Kosimi met with the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Sheikh Ahmed Al-Tayeb.

 

 

 

 

During the meeting both sides discussed issues of scientific, educational and cultural cooperation between Tajikistan and this world-famous institution.

 

 

 

 

 

Considering the status and world influence of Al-Azhar, much attention was paid to the development of cooperation in the field of teaching and propaganda of religious tolerance and the fight against extremism.

Chairman of the State Committee met with Canadian MFA’s parliamentary secretary and the CEO of “Pace Law Firm”
Within the framework of his visit to Canada, Fuad Muradov, chairman of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora, met with Robert Oliphant, Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Canada.

 

 

 

 

 

Parliamentary secretary was informed about diaspora policy of Azerbaijan, the activity of the Committee, 50 million Azerbaijanis living in more than 70 countries of the world. It was mentioned that following on the recommendations of the President of Azerbaijan, strong relations have been established with the Azerbaijani communities abroad, including our compatriots living in Canada.

It was emphasized that modern Azerbaijan, a leading state of the South Caucasus, has entered a new stage of its development and large-scale reconstruction works are being carried out in the liberated lands.

It was highlighted that Azerbaijani people want to establish lasting peace in the region.

Robert Oliphant highly appreciated the integration of the Azerbaijani diaspora into the Canadian society. Parliamentary secretary has told that Canada supports Azerbaijan’s internationally recognized territorial integrity. Robert Oliphant positively assessed the works done by Azerbaijani community in Canada for raising the image of their historical homeland.

The Committee chairman expressed hope for the further development of the bilateral relations.

The next meeting was held between Committee chairman and founder of “Pace Law Firm”. Al Pace, founder and head of the law firm, gave detailed information about the legal services provided by the company. It was emphasized that the company founded in 1981 has more than 160 lawyers working in five offices and provides services to clients in more than 38 languages.

 

 

 

Mentioning that he is originally from Lithuania, Al Pace spoke about the activities of the Lithuanian community and his company’s support to the start-up projects of the Lithuanian youth.

The Committee chairman gave detailed information about diaspora building and integration of the Azerbaijani community members onto the local society. It has been highlighted that members of the Azerbaijani community abroad are mainly engaged in trade and contribute to the economy of countries of residence. The meeting focused on the elimination of the integration-related problems and cooperation perspectives.

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has received Ville Skinnari, Minister for Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade of Finland, who is also the Co-Chairperson of the Kazakhstan-Finland Intergovernmental Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation.

Welcoming the guest, the President noted the importance of Finnish delegation’s visit to Kazakhstan as an additional impetus to strengthening bilateral ties and expanding cooperation.

Over the 30 years of development of diplomatic relations, Finland has become Kazakhstan’s second largest investor among the Nordic states. In addition, Kazakhstan accounts for 90% of Finland’s trade with Central Asia.

 

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev highlighted the importance of the two states’ partnership in trade-economic, transport-logistics, and education sectors. He expressed readiness to provide full support to the Finnish entrepreneurs to encourage their investment in Kazakhstan.

In turn, Ville Skinnari thanked the Kazakh leader for a warm welcome, noting the great potential for cooperation between the two countries.

According to him, the Finnish delegation includes the representatives of 15 large companies such as Nurminen Logistics Plc, Nokia, EastCham Finland, Business Finland, Lamor, Wärtsilä Finland, PayIQ, EPSE and others. During the upcoming meetings, the parties will focus on strengthening the trade-economic relations.

 

Furthermore, the Finnish side plans to open a visa hub at the Embassy of Finland in Astana, which will serve the citizens of Central Asian states.

The parties also exchanged views on the topical issues of the international and regional agenda.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev conveyed his sincere wishes to President of Finland Sauli Niinistö and invited him to visit Kazakhstan.

On February 8, 2023, during the working visit to the federal state of Saarland, Imomudin Sattorov, Ambassador of Tajikistan to Germany, met with Mrs. Anke Rehlinger, Prime Minister of this state.

The parties exchanged views on topical issues related to the economy, industry, investment, climate, renewable energy, culture and education.

As part of the trip, the Ambassador of Tajikistan also visited the Saarland University (Universität des Saarlandes), which is situated in Saarbrucken, the capital of the Saarland. During the conversation with the leadership of the Saarland University, strengthening inter-university ties with our country and the possibility of studying of Tajik citizens at this university were discussed.

The Tajik diplomat also got acquainted with the activities of the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (Deutsche Forschungszentrum für Künstliche Intelligenz).

In this connection the attention of the German side was drawn to the adoption of the “Strategy for the development of artificial intelligence in the Republic of Tajikistan until 2040”, as well as on the activities of the centers for developing programs and works in the field of artificial intelligence.

During the meeting, a wide range of issues of bilateral relations and further strengthening of cooperation in the fields of economy and investment were discussed.
